Weeks 1–4: Fix accuracy and eligibility The goal for month one is to become eligible to rank. Claim and verify your Google Business Profile. Choose one correct primary category and only genuinely relevant secondary categories. Write service descriptions in plain en-GB English. Set exact opening hours, including bank holidays. Define service areas you can actually serve within a reasonable drive time. Ensure your website shows the same name, address and phone number, with a crawlable contact page and click-to-call on mobile. Add or correct key UK citations and remove old addresses or tracking numbers that create confusion. Upload honest, recent photos of premises, team and work.
Weeks 5–8: Build relevance and proof The goal for month two is to prove you match specific searches. Create or improve one page per core service plus location, for example “Emergency Plumber – South Side” or “Family Dentist – Shawlands”, each with unique detail on scope, pricing approach, areas covered and next steps. Add FAQs that answer real pre-booking questions. Start a simple, compliant review process: ask after completed work, make it easy with a direct link or QR code, and reply to every review. Publish one useful local post per week on your profile, such as availability, seasonal advice or event-hour changes.
Weeks 9–12: Build prominence and tighten conversion The goal for month three is to widen trust and turn views into enquiries. Seek a small number of quality local mentions — supplier case notes, community sponsorships, genuine press — rather than bulk directory submissions. Check and tidy duplicates on Maps and major aggregators. Improve conversion paths: clear calls to action, online booking or quote forms, service-area maps, parking or access notes, and emergency contact guidance where relevant. Review insights for calls, direction requests and website clicks, then refine titles, categories and top pages that underperform.
Avoid shortcuts such as keyword-stuffed business names, virtual addresses, review incentives or mass-created area pages with swapped place names. They create short-term risk of suspension or long-term loss of trust.
